The FOCCUS is a faith-based, pre-marriage inventory that is a comprehensive, user-friendly tool that helps couples prepare for marriage. It is a 151-item, research-based inventory that assesses a couple’s compatibility in important issues such as communication, problem-solving, religion, family and friends, careers, cohabitation, parenting, sexuality, finances and more.
The REFOCCUS, a marriage enrichment inventory, is also faith based and similar to FOCCUS but for already married couples. Meant to be used as a part of on-going discussion with your therapist and/or with other couples, the REFOCCUS can be a great way to foster more understanding and build an even stronger partnership.
While both are faith-based tools, couples of any or no religious background can benefit greatly from their use. These tools help your therapist determine the particular areas you need to work through to either promote success in your relationship and/or strengthen what you have already built.
Gerard Medicis is a certified facilitator in both inventories.
